A Christian Sorority??

Many people automatically dismiss the idea of a
"Christian Sorority" as a contradiction in terms.
When Sigma Alpha Omega® was founded at N.C. State
in the spring of 1998, we set out to prove just how
perfect those words could fit together...

In the language of the New Testament, the word
"sorority" means "sisterhood." Jesus Himself was the
One who first introduced us to the idea that all
Christians are of one family (Matthew 12:50).

It, therefore, naturally follows that God created
Christian women to be sisters to one another.
Our fellowship in Sigma Alpha Omega® is grounded
first in Christ, and second in sisterhood.

When we wear our letters, we not only represent our
national sorority, or UNCW...we represent Christ.

What our letters mean:
Sigma (Savior) Alpha (Beginning) Omega (End)
"I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End."
Revelations22:13

We are Greek!

We are an active sorority at UNCW.

We have socials, service projects, formals,

retreats, national conventions and weekly meetings,

as do other Greeks. We have a great relationship

with our fellow Greeks at UNCW.

What sets us apart from other Greeks is
that every sister is open to Christ's ways.
We fellowship in weekly Bible studies, and
we strive to spread His Word at UNCW.

"Sisterhood:
From the outside looking in- you can understand it;
From the inside looking out- you can't explain it."
